The Center for Living and Learning is a private non-profit Residential Treatment Facility on a 30-acre farm in Franklin, TN, housing adults who experience severe and persistent mental illnesses. We provide 24-hour residential care and job training in a therapeutic environment with emphasis on the highest level of functioning and independent living.
Residents begin in 24/7 supervised care, attending the vocational program M-F from 8am-noon. They work in the garden, including all aspects of the growing process such as seeding, weeding, watering, pruning, and harvesting, and prepare produce for our weekly CSA. They also work in our market program where they create products for our community retail partners and seasonal markets. They attend lectures pertaining to mental health education and coping skills, workplace preparedness, etc., and work towards goals to help them reach their fullest level of independence. Once they meet certain requirements, they can move into semi-independent and independent housing on campus.
