Every year thousands of students with disabilities are aging out of high school with few options for employment or contribution. The general consensus is that individuals with disabilities are unable to contribute. At Healing Farms we don’t believe that. We are striving to meet the needs of those students in the Charleston area by doing the following:
- DAY PROGRAM: Rather than going to a “place” and performing a “task”, our participants join a small group made up of four to six young adults with disabilities, a facilitator, and one to two volunteers who share similar interests. We believe friendships foster trust and inspire our participants to take on new challenges.
- SUMMER CAMP: Camp ABILITY is our summer day camp designed for individuals with intellectual disabilities who are still in high school ages 17+. It provides the opportunity for your camper to not only have fun and form new friendships, but also the opportunity to stretch, grow, and build life skills resulting in a greater level of independence.
- GATHERINGS: These quarterly events are specially designed to accommodate families and their special needs loved one.
