Kate Mudge lives in rural west-central Minnesota on a 40-acre farm she shares with her wife, where she hopes one day to establish a care farm. She brings more than 20 years of nonprofit leadership to her role as Co-Director of the Care Farming Network.
Throughout her career, Kate has guided organizations through dynamic phases of change and growth, with expertise spanning rural entrepreneurism, hunger relief, animal welfare, recycling, and community development. She previously served as Rural Initiatives Strategist with West Central Initiative, where she supported local food systems and regional agriculture, and as Executive Director of both Hamline Midway Coalition and Pet Haven. Earlier in her career, she directed food rescue operations at Second Harvest Heartland, helping to build one of the nation’s largest food recovery programs.
A creative at heart, Kate also spent over a decade as a professional baker in the Twin Cities and continues to nurture her love for food, farming, and community connection. In her free time, she enjoys metalsmithing, foraging, gardening, and baking.
