Bee In Bloom

Bee In Bloom is a budding therapeutic horticulture care farm in Roxboro, North Carolina. It’s rooted in the belief that nature nurtures, and so can we. Situated on a 14-acre property off Mayo Lake, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit opened its gates to the community with a Fall Festival and Grand Opening celebration on October 11, 2026. The event doubled as a fundraiser to support the continued development of the care farm and its programs.

Bee In Bloom offers holistic wellness services, like therapeutic horticulture, in a safe and inclusive space. The farm is designed so people of different ages and abilities can experience the benefits of being outdoors and working with plants.

Courtney Ramsey-Coleman, director of Bee In Bloom, explains, “Bee In Bloom was created around a simple idea: that nature can help people grow, connect, and thrive. We are excited to open this space to the community and begin building something that people can experience, contribute to, and make their own.”

Bee In Bloom’s vision for the property can be viewed on their website.

Programs

Bee In Bloom’s long-term vision includes three programs:

Cultivating Connections Program: Hands-on workshops and shared experiences where the community can reconnect with nature, creativity, and one another.

Thrive Hive Program: Therapeutic horticulture for people with Down syndrome and other disabilities, building life skills, confidence, and community connections.

Wildflower Program: Support for women and teens who have been impacted by domestic violence or trauma.

Products and Plant Sales

As its programs grow, Bee In Bloom plans to create a line of small-batch natural products crafted from its land, including honey, herbal teas, and salves. The farm also plans to host seasonal community plant sales and a small on-site farmers’ market. Every purchase helps fund the mission.

The Beauty of the Unfinished

Bee In Bloom’s care farm is still growing and evolving, and that is intentional. It is not a perfectly finished garden, but a living landscape that will change with the seasons, the people who visit, and the community that helps shape it.

In many ways, the farm reflects the people it was created to serve: we are all works in progress. Just as a seed does not need to be a fully grown plant to have value, people do not need to have everything figured out to belong, grow, and thrive.

Bee In Bloom will continue developing the property in partnership with the community, growing it into a shared resource where people can learn, create, grow food and plants, and spend meaningful time in nature.

Aspiring Care Farms & Care Farming Network

The CFN Care Farm Map & Directory includes not only established care farms, but aspiring care farms as well. We support aspiring care farmers with resources, consultations, mentorship, and events for learning and community-building—including the CFN National conference. We love watching aspiring care farmers make their dreams a reality, just as Bee in Bloom has done.
