Rosemary and thyme, sweet corn and Swiss chard, and hearts as big as a head of cabbage. That’s Farm in the Dell in North Morehead. It’s where the gardens are full of eager garden engineers who just happen to have disabilities. The harvest is now in full swing and they are all preparing for farm to table dinner events and a fall festival. And afternoons, you come and pick produce or visit the Thursday night farmers market.
Anna Sather shares: “One thing we’ve been really intentional about over the last few years is trying to get people out to the farm. That’s why we’ve started hosting our events out at the farm and our market and launching opportunities because we really want them to have the opportunity to meet the garden engineers, the ones who are out here getting their hands dirty in the field every single day making this possible.”
And so much has changed since Farm in the Dell moved here to North Morehead in 2015. At that time, just a handful of unpaid engineers volunteering in the fields. Now 35 paid engineers out here almost every day.

Since 2012, Farm in the Dell Red River Valley has provided employment for individuals with disabilities in their beautiful farm and garden setting.
