COPPERAS COVE, Texas (FOX 44) — An organization in Copperas Cove is taking a unique approach to mental health wellness.

Dana Wall, a.k.a. “The Goat Lady,” has become known around Copperas Cove for the work she does through D&S Cuddling Critters. Through her for-profit business and her non-profit foundation of the same name, Wall connects people struggling with their mental health to animals like Goat Malone.

This goat is a Nigerian Dwarf – and apparently he has a penchant for healing. Wall and Goat Malone take people on walks through the Ogletree Gap Preserve in Cove, and that’s where the magic happens.

“Who doesn’t want to hold and cuddle you know, a cute little goat baby? That’s really the attention-getter. That’s how we get the crowds to come out,” said Wall. “Then people just naturally start opening up and talking about things.”

…One of the main focuses for Wall is veterans. As a veteran herself, she knows how difficult it can be to really open up about some of the mental struggles that come with serving the country.
