On-Farm Risk & Insurance: What Agritourism Operators Need to Know

Published by Global Agritourism Network (GAN) North America

From Global Agritourism Network (GAN) North America Regional Meeting, May 2026.

Both care farming and agritourism are growing across North America—bringing new opportunities, but also increased exposure. Many operators assume their existing farm policies are sufficient, but gaps in coverage are common and often only discovered when it’s too late.

In this free meeting recording, two farm insurance specialists from Canada and the U.S. share insights that are helpful to both care farms and agritourism operations:

  • Where operations are most commonly under-insured
  • The types of incidents that lead to claims—and where coverage can fall short

Understanding on-farm risk and insurance will help ensure your operation is better aligned with the realities of hosting the public on your farm or ranch.
