Our farm will be a nature/farm-based setting for a tiny home community that houses adults with intellectual disabilities, young people coming out of foster care, and other adults to create a community of care that grows and prepares its own food to share collectively.
Around 3 of the property’s 27 acres will be used for farming and residences. The rest is maintained as a forest/grassland with trails and nature observation areas.
Based on a very large garden along with a farm stand and children’s garden, our residential program will create a context for supported independent living for adults with intellectual disabilities, young people coming out of foster care, and others. Working together, along with volunteers from the community, we will care for a small number of animals, grow our food, prepare our meals, and learn skills that will advance our lives.
The residents will each have their own tiny home that they can care for with support from staff if needed or independently if not. A farmstand, petting zoo, and children’s garden with themed gardens based on children’s books, provides ample work and ways for residents to interact with the visiting community.
