R.O.O.T.S., which stands for Resilient-Optimistic-Open-Minded-Thriving-Serene, is a support option for young people experiencing challenges related to substance use and mental health. However, our program looks and feels a lot different than what you may have seen before, and the results do too! No clinics, no lab coats, no fancy and finely appointed offices. Our program takes place at Evergreen Grove, a 115-acre site where we operate our therapeutic farm and livestock rescue program. R.O.O.T.S. is staffed by a dedicated and accomplished group of clinical professionals and highly trained peers in long-term recovery from substance use and mental health disorders, but you won’t find fancy suits and sweater vests here. Jeans, boots, and smiles are our uniform. Program participants take part in operating our farm and livestock rescue program by performing animal care activities, Equine Assisted Learning, gardening/horticulture, barn work, building projects, arts/crafts, nature walks, hikes through our privately owned forest, and more. Each of these activities is structured in a way to achieve the personal goals of each participant, with the end result being measurable progress toward a life of health and happiness.
