At Prairie Elder Care, our mission is to empower individuals living with dementia and their loved ones by providing a nurturing environment that restores community, connection, and control. We are dedicated to enhancing the lives of those affected by dementia through innovative care, compassionate support, and meaningful engagement, ensuring they experience dignity, purpose, and joy throughout their journey.
We have taken the known benefits of gardening to a new level with the introduction of the 3C’s Care Farm (Community, Connection, & Crops). The benefits of nature, whether viewing or interacting with it, are abounding:
-
Sensory Stimulation: The natural environment stimulates the senses, evoking positive memories and improving well-being
-
Meaningful Activities: Engaging in gardening, animal care, and farm tasks boosts self-esteem and provides a sense of accomplishment
-
Connection with Nature: Interacting with nature reduces stress, agitation, and improves mood
-
Animal Therapy: Animals offer companionship, reduce anxiety, and promote social interaction
-
Social Interaction: Care farms provide a supportive community that combats loneliness and fosters emotional connection
-
Reminiscence Therapy: Farm-related experiences trigger memories, facilitating communication and personal identity
-
Physical Exercise: Farm activities promote physical activity, improving overall health and cognitive function.
Our care farm offers a therapeutic and inclusive environment that enhances the well-being and quality of life for individuals living with dementia and the larger community.
