#TeachFeedSucceed:
At CHRSC we are proud to serve our Georgetown County and surrounding areas. Our dedicated volunteers,
staff and board members always work to improve our process, creating long lasting changes while
celebrating our diverse community.
OUR PROGRAMS
Our Community Garden: Started as an outdoor classroom for our students during COVID, it evolved into a
much bigger and meaningful project in our community. It has grown from a garden to a farm. Since we
started in May of 2020, we harvested and donated 17 tons of food to the most in need in our community
from our traditional raised bed garden and more than 28,000 heads of lettuce from our signature hydroponic
system. We accomplished this with the help of our incredible volunteers that devoted more than 20,000
hours of their time, talents and efforts. Our garden quickly became a destination for local youth serving
agencies and schools. We hosted several leadership groups throughout the state such as School field trips,
DHEC, community garden practitioners, and others.
Carolina Kids (CK): our afterschool program serves more than 82 students that are thriving in school. The
vision of our Afterschool and Summer enrichment program is to connect youth to a “self” passion, which
ignites their desire for learning, personal purpose, and ownership, creating a concept for their own future
with an alternative learning pathway. This program sets up the framework to provide guidance and
mentoring from small business owners. Our programs benefit students, business owners, schools, and the
community. We provide an opportunity for our youth to picture themselves as active, enterprising, and
contributing members of their community. By dedicating our time in CK to the essential soft skills often
lacking by our youth and incentivizing the learning process, we are confident that we can improve their
academic performance.
CK Farm to School: With the energy of the Community Garden behind us, we have launched the CK Farm to
School Program where we have installed a total of 64 garden beds at Waccamaw, Georgetown and Andrews
schools. The vegetable garden beds are tended to by the students, all the harvests get weighed, recorded
and sent home to their families. The objective is to promote healthy eating from young to old.

Foodshare Georgetown:
CHRSC partnered with FoodShare South Carolina in August 2021 to help reduce the food access disparity in
our community. Many of our residents face a myriad of barriers including where they live, age, income, and
reliable transportation which prevent them from engaging in a healthy lifestyle. A healthy Georgetown
County starts with healthy eating habits. We strive to enhance the quality of life in our diverse communities
by increasing access to fresh, affordable produce and providing quality cooking skills education. Fresh Food
Boxes are filled with 9 to 11 varieties of fresh fruits and vegetables along with recipes and nutritional tips.
With the contents changing bi-weekly, it’s an affordable and exciting way to eat healthy food. We have
delivered over 12,000 boxes of fresh produce to our community.
