Shemesh Farms aims to empower young adults with special needs and diverse abilities by inspiring them to take on the responsibilities of building our social enterprise. Located in Malibu California, Farm Fellows volunteers and staff harvest and craft spice blends, honey, and other organic products. Their farm and enterprise are built upon a foundation of sustainability, inclusion, and interconnectedness.

Care Farming Training Program Opportunities

Homesteads for Hope Community Farm in Rochester NY is offering (5) paid apprenticeships in our Care Farming Training Program, a 7 Month residential experience in learning sustainable agriculture while working alongside young adults with disabilities. This experience offers hands-on training of a 10-acre vegetable flower production, animal husbandry, and CSA Food Share Management. Five Components of Farm-Based Therapy

Cultivate Care Farms  outlines 5 components of Farm-Based Therapy (FBT) treatment model, which emphasizes hands-on experience, sustainability, the life cycle, community, and mindfulness. Clients engage in activities such as feeding animals, growing food, and participating in life/death rituals, which provide mental health benefits including empowerment, compassion, and grief processing.

Vertical Harvest is Gaining Ground in Maine 

Vertical Harvest  has broken ground in the urban center of Westbrook, Maine, commencing construction of the four-story, 52,000 sq. ft. building and is slated to produce 2 million pounds of produce annually and provide fresh nutritious produce to schools, hospitals, restaurants, markets, and consumers.

ATTENTION MARYLAND FARMERS! Launched in 2021 and reopening in 2024, this program provides $1,000 grants for farmers to work with the consultant of their choice. The goal of this program is to provide farmers based in rural Maryland with the opportunity to strengthen their business and address challenges with the support of in-depth, free-for-the-farmer consultations with experts.
